The County Hotel is a historic coaching-in, with the current main part of the building dating back to about 1750. In earlier times the hotel operated under the name "The Grapes In".
The hotel has had many promonent guests during its time as the meeting place for The Forest Club who's members included Sir Walter Scott, Mungo Park and Prince Leopold of the Belgians.
Norwegian Hoteliers Trond Arne Dalby and Willy Hægeland took ownership of the hotel in 2004 and are gradually improving and developing the hotel back to its former glory.
